The Brantham Bull is a Grade 2 listed building with parts dating back to the 16th Century . Some of the beams in the Bull are said to have come from the wreckage of the Spanish Armada.
There used to be a tunnel running from the cellar to the river Stour and it is assumed that large amounts of contraband Brandy would have travelled along this passage.
The Bull also has a number of reported ghosts. There is a young girl heard crying in the cellar, and a greyish gentleman sometimes seen behind the bar.
The Witch finder General Matthew Hopkins, an extremely cruel man once had a lady named Nancy hanged on the green, which was once in front of the Bull.
